Changes Coming Soon to Alleviate Howard Franklin Bridge Traffic

According to a recent Tampa Bay Times article, Interstate I-275 will undergo changes in the next few years to address traffic issues, particularly with respect to the Howard Franklin Bridge.  The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) wants to add a third lane to both directions approaching the bridge on the Tampa side.  The project could cost roughly $25 million and was previously bundled as part of the TBX project.  The new lanes project still must receive approval before progress can be made, but construction could begin by Fall 2019, with lanes to open in 2021.
