Cary Gaylord marches with West Point class of 2019

Hillsborough County, FL – Gaylord Merlin senior partner, Cary Gaylord, a Ranger Qualified West Point graduate, along with 50 members of the West Point Legacy Class of ’69, joined the incoming plebes of the West Point Class of 2019 as they completed the traditional 12-mile march into West Point to begin their academic year. The march began at 0430 and covered the mountainous terrain between the cadet Beast Barracks encampment and West Point.

For the class of 1969 it was a reunion where they relived an arduous experience they completed 50 years ago in the summer of 1965. It was also sobering to participate along with the Class of 2019 as they dedicated their training to fallen Army Ranger and West Point graduate 1st Lt Dimitri del Castillo who was killed on June 25, 2011, in action in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Lt del Castillo’s family lives in Tampa and has started a scholarship fund to help families of fallen Rangers.  More info on that can be found at www.ranger.org/page-1263672.
