Hillsborough County will now have an extra one-penny sales tax to help fund the region’s transportation projects. Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections’ website reported last week that the No. 2 referendum passed by 57 percent with 390 out of 390 precincts reporting. Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik has been heavily invested in the referendum. Vinik is also a partner in Strategic Property Partners, the developer of Water Street Tampa, with Cascade Investment.
