The $230 million Gandy Expressway Project, previously mentioned here, began preliminary work last week. More work will begin September 12 when crews will work on the project overnight on westbound Gandy Boulevard. That work will require road closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The Selmon Extension is designed to provide a direct connection to the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, Dale Mabry Highway or the Gandy Bridge. Construction of the Selmon West Extension is expected to begin early next year with the extension opening in late 2020.
